I titled this one Gentle Morning because that’s what it makes me think of—early dawn. These flowers are Lycianthes (lie-see-AN-thees) and their petals are so soft and delicate.

An interesting thing happened one evening when I walked into my studio. It was dusk and the lighting was dim, but as I glanced at this painting, the pale mauve areas of the flowers seemed to have a glow! I’m not exactly sure how I achieved that, which means it’ll be hard to replicate in the future. 😕 Oh well, I’m an artist who has lots to learn! In this case I sure love the painting’s glow!
